About the Doctor

Richard V. Grubb, DDS
Dr. Grubb graduated in the top of his class from the University of Maryland's Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1975.

After completing a residency at Sinai Hospital, where he received advanced training in surgery and anesthesia, he returned to his hometown of Havre de Grace and has been practicing dentistry for 32 years.

His interest in dental implantology led him to pursue a year long course of study in dental implants at Howard University.

Annually attending continuing education courses enables Dr. Grubb to stay at the forefront of his profession, so that he can provide optimal care to his patients. This allows Dr. G. to offer his patients the most current treatment options available.

Dr. Grubb is:

Fellow and Master of the Academy of General Dentistry
Fellow and Diplomate of the International College of Oral Implantologists
Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry
Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology

During his hospital residency, Dr. Grubb received training in anesthesia in the operating room, and administered IV-sedation in the general dental clinics. In addition, he has completed an extensive continuing education course through the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry Department of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology with a certificate in IV-sedation, which is only given after meeting educational requirements and having passed an examination.

Dr. Grubb has been awarded fellowships in the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. These are honorary societies with membership by invitation only.

Additionally, his dedication to the profession of dentistry led him to serve on two American Dental Association Councils in Chicago and the chairmanship of several Maryland State Dental Association Councils and Committees. He has also served as President of the Harford-Cecil Dental Society. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Graduate General Dentistry Residency program ath the University of Maryland, former clinical instructor in the General Practice Residency Program at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, served as the Chief of the Dental Division of Harford Memorial Hospital for 21 years, served as President of the Maryland State Dental Association from 2004-2005 and has lectured nationally on behalf of the American Dental Association.

In his free time, Dr. Grubb enjoys reading, fly fishing, tennis, skiing, hunting, boating, scuba diving, traveling, woodworking, and gourmet cooking, much of which he shares with his wife Brigitte, who also serves as the business manager for the practice. His son Marcus is a financial advisor for Merill Lynch in Bel Air.

Brenda RDH Brenda graduated from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Dental Hygiene Certification. After graduation she worked for several years in Ohio and New Jersey, and has been a hygienist for Dr. Grubb since 1990. She enjoys the beach, fiber arts - such a spinning, weaving, and knitting - and supporting her husband's passion for team penning horses. They have two sons, who live in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Caren RDH Originally from Connecticut, Caren graduated from the University of Bridgeport , Alfred C. Fones School of Dental Hygiene in 1975. She brings her 30 years of experience to historical Havre de Grace from working in multi-specialized dental offices throughout Baltimore. Now living on the Bush River with her husband and two dogs, she enjoys golfing, boating, and dinners with her growing family.

Sherry Hare Assistant Sherry is a registered dental assistant, a certified dental radiology technician with the state of Maryland and is a certified anesthesia assistance. Sherry brings us a compassionate and enthusiastic love for dentistry with over 26 years of experience. One of Sherry’s greatest strengths is to make our patients feel at ease with her presence, reassuring touch and great sense of humor. In her spare time she enjoys the beach, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family, friends, and having fun with her three dogs.

Olga Schmidt Assistant Olga Schmidt is a Russian speaking native of Ukraine where she worked as a Cardiac Care Nurse for seven years. Olga has been trained in this country as a dental assistant with anesthesia certification and brings a variety of skills to her job assisting Dr. Grubb. As part of her job Olga helps ensure that all patients, including those sedated with twilight sleep, are kept comfortable and relaxed and given the best care possible. Olga has a very peaceful disposition and loves helping people improve their through optimal dental care. In her time off from work she enjoys reading, knitting, working out, playing tennis, rock climbing, riding a motorcycle with her husband and, most of all, spending time with her children.

Carol Patient Coordinator Carol has 26 years experience in the dental field. She has been working in the dental field since 1984 and with Dr Grubb since 2005; Carol brings many levels of expertise to the dental office. She is a certified dental assistant who transitioned to sales of dental software and eventually back to the dental office in the capacity of front desk/patient coordinator. When Carol’s not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 kids and the family dog. To relax she loves to read or spend time in her garden.

Michele Financial Coordinator Michele brings over 26 years of experience in the dental field to our office. Along with her CPR certification she has attended many hours of continuing education seminars. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and gardening

Brigitte Business Manager Brigitte grew up in Germany, where she graduated from the Paedagogische Hochschule in Hagen with a degree in education. She earned a master's degree in management from the College of Notre Dame in Baltimore in 2003. Her favorite pastime is traveling and attending dental meetings with her husband, and spending time with her grandson.
